My Story

After learning how to balance advanced placement courses, honors classes, cross country practices, media production events and Beta Club meetings at Zachary High School, Luke Parks decided to take on another challenge - a cookie dough business.

The Royal Treats concept started approximately 7 years ago. At Zachary Elementary School, Luke participated in an entrepreneurship course that spurred his creativity. While participating in the course, he was asked to develop a concept, write a business plan and test the concept with family friends and church members. In Luke’s spare time, he decided to perfect our family recipes with his mother and father by baking cookies, cupcakes and pies. After Luke delivered the baked goods, he always received positive affirmations about the products and encouragement about starting a business.

What started out as a class assignment spurred an interest in making his dream become a reality. After meeting the staff at the Louisiana State University’s AgCenter Food Innovation Institute, the hardworking staff (Gaye, Ashley and Gabriela) provided the necessary expertise and guidance to move forward with his vision.

In October 2021, the business was formed. Royal Treats are sold locally at Calvin’s Bocage Market, Matherne’s Supermarket in downtown Baton Rouge, LA, Matherne’s Market at LSU, Boudin Shack, both Calandro’s Supermarket locations in Baton Rouge, LA, both Ralph’s Markets in Ascension Parish, Butcher Boy in Plaquemine, Butcher Boy in Donaldsonville, and H Mercantile in Clinton. In the near future, we plan to launch additional flavors. Stay tuned!
